Dr. Steiner’s training in Quaternary Geography exposed him to Pleistocene Archaeology, which became his major field of research. His book, Neanderthals in Plato’s Cave, synthesizes the conclusions of several articles published in scientific journals specializing in the disciplines of paleoanthropology, cognitive archaeology, ethnography, and archaeometry. He is the founder and chairman of the International Federation of Independent Rock Art Researchers (IFIRAR, Switzerland) and a reviewer for Rock Art Research, the journal of the International Federation of Rock Art Organizations (IFRAO, Australia).
