Dr Robert Mbe Akoko is an associate professor of Anthropology and Chair of the Department of Communication and Development Studies of the University of Bamenda, Cameroon. He obtained a B Sc and an M Sc degrees in Anthropology from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria and a PhD in Anthropology from the University of Leiden, The Netherlands. He has done extensive research on Christianity and politics in Cameroon and has published articles in numerous journals. He was president of the Pan African Anthropological Association (PAAA) from 2009 to 2012 and visiting fellow at the African Studies Centre Leiden. He belongs to many scholarly associations amongst which are, The African Studies Association, Pan African Anthropological Association and Community member of the African Studies Centre Leiden. He was Chair of the Department of Sociology and Anthropology of the University of Buea, Cameroon from 2009 to 2017
