Editorial

The inauguration of International Journal of Modern Anthropology coincides with a time when some findings from anthropological research provide new conclusions against some classic questionable considerations and / or show a tendency to do some syntheses of multidisciplinary data. The revelation of these two events marks the birth of a modern anthropology. The principal aim of this journal is to contribute to the development of this modern anthropology.

In fact, the traditional break between different specialities of biological anthropology and those of cultural anthropology led to a smash of the man study. In addition, the persistence of some classic questionable considerations even in some recent publications would have somewhat restrained the progression of the anthropological science. Modern anthropology comes to head all anthropological specialities and to permit the confrontation of knowledge, which will stimulate researchers to start real grand syntheses from multidisciplinary data. In addition, it comes to encourage anthropologists to get rid of questionable considerations.

Description of the Journal
&
Instructions to authors

It is a peer-reviewed journal. It publishes papers that extend our understanding of the humankind in all its aspects. It concentrates on topics which need syntheses of multidisciplinary data from different specialities of Biological and Cultural Anthropology. It has a distinguished international editorial board that maintains high scientific standards.

It is a print and electronic journal, freely open access online in www.ata.org.tn . It publishes annually papers following several formats:

Original Synthetic Articles presenting grand syntheses of analyzed data from biological anthropology specialties and those linked up from cultural anthropology specialties or vice versa. Syntheses must be original and provide new important conclusions, new theories or new methods and / or lead to resolutions to old questions or to convincing critic and review of questionable considerations (presented in about 26 to 35 pages of manuscript double-spaced).

Original Synthetic Reports presenting new experimental and / or theoretical results on interesting anthropological subjects. Theses results must be analysed then discussed within a synthesis including possible related data from other anthropological specialities (presented in about 13 to 24 pages).

Original Discovery Reports are papers, which provide only the first data of important discoveries in Biological Anthropology and in all aspects of basic Human Biology or in Medical Anthropology as discoveries expanded from popular traditional medicine. Thus, authors could publish all detailed results in a second original article or in a patent (do not exceed 8 pages).

Review Synthetic Articles or Review Synthetic Reports reflect current interests on all aspects of Biological Anthropology and related aspects of Cultural Anthropology (articles presented in about 26 to 35 pages, while reports in about 10 to 20 pages).

Critical Short Reports, in which modern anthropologists can bring out general ambiguities and classic or new questionable considerations in any anthropological subject. They can also criticize data and conclusions provided by recent original paper (presented in about 4 to 12 pages).

Thought Short Reports, concern only interesting anthropological subjects particularly in cultural specialities (presented in about 4 to 12 pages).

The journal receives manuscripts only in English from all over the world. Authors whose mother tongue is not English should have the manuscript checked by a native English speaker prior to submission. Manuscripts submitted must not be under consideration by any other journal at the same time or have been published elsewhere.

The manuscript must be double-spaced; top, bottom and both side margins should be about 3cm. It should consist of the following subdivisions:

- The title page must contain: the title of the manuscript, name(s) (first name, and name) of the author(s), corresponding addresses (name(s) of the institutions(s), the laboratory, the university, the region and the country with the postal code) and the electronic address of each author. The corresponding author could present his CV in only 5-7 lines and detailed address with telephone number.

- In a second page the abstract should count 200-250 words and have in the case of original papers, a structural form :background and aim, material (or subjects) and methods, results and conclusions. Key words and running title (maximum 50 characters) must be indicated.

- The text, in the case of original paper, should be divided into sections: Introduction, Material (or Subjects) and Methods, Results and Discussion followed by Acknowledgement, References, Tables, Figures legends and Figures (Hard copies of certain figures may be needed once an article is accepted for publication). The pages should be numbered consecutively, beginning with the title page. The literature list must be arranged alphabetically in the following style:

Chaabani H., 2002. GM polymophism and the evolutionary history of modern humans.
Ann Génét 45:197-206.
In the case of references with many authors, at least the first five authors must be indicated.

Submission: manuscripts should be sent by E. Mail to Pr H. CHAABANI hassenchaabani@gmail.com

Each manuscript must be reviewed by at least two Associate Editors or Referees of the Editorial Board and outside reviewers. Acceptance is based on the quality of the work particularly on its accuracy, originality and suitability for a broad international readership.

Each annual issue appears online with open access to the full text of articles and with print availability. This journal is covered in many search engines and accepted to be indexed in many scientific databases as:

- Index Copernicus
- Genamics JournalSeek
- African Journal online

and under evaluation for abstracting and indexing in others:

- Anthropological Literature
- Abstracts in Anthropology
- Scopus
- Medline
- African Index Medicus

Thus, articles published in this journal will receive massive international exposure and consequently will receive high citations.
